Makes Me Smile

Cows make me smile.
They remind me of the reason I chose Plain City, Ohio, as the setting for my recent book series. This photo takes me back in time. I lived in Columbus, Ohio, and drove country roads to get to the rural church I attended. That's where I met a good looking Mennonite guy. You see, Plain City's the setting for my own real-life romance.
And we're headed back this month for a mini book tour as well as to spend time with the family.

Barns make Jim smile.
I'm excited about getting some photos for future blog posts. Jim's fascinated with the old barns and for good reason. He knows how to bring life to the old barn beams by turning them into fabulous fireplace mantels.

My only regret is that the sweet corn won't be ripe. But maybe I'll find a Whoopie Pie instead. Looking forward to meeting readers and making new friends. Hope the road brings us together!
What is it about the country that makes you smile?

I enjoyed reading this & love the pictures, too!!! Many things make me smile. I grew up in the county & miss it. I do live in a small town but as the years go by I want to live in the county again. I love about the county fresh air smell, seeing laundry on clothes line blowing in the breeze, animals in the fields, fields growing crops, houses not so close to each other & I think i could go on & on! I hope sometime to meet you, too!!

Thanks for sharing. Nice to meet another person who grew up in Ohio.

Oh the peacefulness and wholesomeness that comes with the country. I love the cows and pastures and the horses. Nothing makes me smile more than to see an Amish cart going down a country road with kids peaking out the back window. I grew up in Ohio and even though life's journey has taken me to many other places, now living in Mississippi, my heart is still in Ohio. I visited Plain City and fell in love with it!

The Ohio roots stay with you throughout life even though you've moved away years ago. It keeps bringing me back. I love and enjoy the Amish country and Mennonite areas so much now that I am older.
